Pomeranians are the smallest of the German Spitz family of breeds. They remotely resemble the wolf: a wide forehead, standing ears, a wedge-shaped muzzle, small eyes often with a slanting cut, a square shaped body and an independent personality. They are very well suited to the European climate. Pomeranians have a double coat, like that of a wolf. Because of this their coat is referred to as “wild”. It does not tolerate being shaved. Once it has been shaved, it may never grow back.

The average height of a Pomeranian is 22 cm (8 ½”)

The ideal weight is 2 – 2.5 kg (4 ½ - 5 ½ lb)

Compact, short-coupled, well-knit in frame, square shaped body.

The height of the Pomeranian is measured from floor to the shoulder blades.
